Supplied new by Dutton Forshaw and delivered to McKenna Funeral Directors in Preston, Lancashire (hence the black paintwork) where it led a pampered life as a spare vehicle to support the main fleet of cars. It therefore clocked up very few miles while in service, all at a very stately pace indeed. It stayed with the funeral parlour until 2009 when it passed into the hands of the owner of the business. Tucked away in his garage for the next five years and barely used, it was recommissioned in 2014 and has done less than 500 miles since. Flying through its MOT in May this year it could be a genuine concours contender with little more than a weekend’s worth of detailing. The car was recently used by Octane magazine for an article where it was driven Paris to celebrate the XJ's 50th anniversary, a copy of the article included in history file. This car can only be described as the best XJ we have had the pleasure to offer, the car drives without fault and was a pleasure when taken for photographs. Also all of the electric items work just as they should, the pixels on the digital dashboard are unbroken and the on-board computer still operates as it did some 31 years ago when new. The Daimler rides on new Avon Turbospeed rubber and a more comfortable car is hard to imagine. Cars this special don't appear every day and we see this Daimler as a good long term investment.
