1951 Singer 9 Series 4AB Roadster. Red with Black upholstery, black hood and side screens and a full black tonneau cover. The Singer Roadster was a two-door, four-seat convertible version of the Bantam saloon and first sold in 1939. The traditional body comprised alloy panels fixed to a wooden frame. Power came from a version of the 1074cc four-cylinder OHC engine found in the Bantam. The model re-emerged virtually unchanged after the war, and remained so until the 4A variant of 1949. This featured a Solex carburettor in place of the original SU and benefited from a four-speed gearbox. The 4AB model produced between 1950 and 1953 sported a new chassis with independent coil spring front suspension and a mix of rod and hydraulic brakes. This fantastic roadster has been fully restored and presents beautifully today. One of approximately only 1,000 4AB Roadsters made this car chassis 4AB7922 was despatched to supplying dealer G. Healey & Son of Gloucester on 25th October 1951. It was then registered as LDD 336 early the following month and it still retains its original registration to this day. The restoration process was all recorded with photographs which are contained in the vehicle history file and show it was a comprehensive job with everything replaced, restored or repaired. The body work has a deep shine and the upholstery, mohair soft top and tonneau cover all new. The cabin sports a wood-rimmed steering wheel, turned aluminium dashboard and bakelite controls. The underside equally as good. It shows a recorded 50,000 miles which is credible and believed to be correct but due to the age we are unable to guarantee this. A large history file accompanies the car containing a lot of bills and invoices as well as restoration photographs and a workshop manual. The car starts without hesitation and drives as it should and instantly transports you back to days gone by as you navigate the local lanes.
