DESCRIPTION

1969 Riley Elf MK III 998cc. Persian Blue with Snowberry White roof and blue leather upholstery. Supplied new by Meredith & Kirkham Ltd, Old Colwyn, Denbighshire on 16th May 1969. This beautiful Riley has been with its last keeper for 19 years and over this period has restored the car into the car you see today with some smart upgrades. The car has covered just 39,000 miles from new which the last owners tells us is correct although we cannot guarantee this due to the age of the vehicle but it certainly looks like it could be. The Elf still retains its 998cc engine and four speed synchromesh gearbox. The engine was overhauled in 2012 and was fitted with a Duplex timing chain and a gas flowed 12G202 Cooper cylinder head and runs on unleaded fuel. The gearbox was reconditioned and a new clutch fitted. Top and bottom hoses were replaced with silicone. Hardy Spicer drive couplings and a small oil cooler fitted. Twin SU HS2 carburettors with EB needles and a Cooper air filter assembly replace the original single carb set up. An upgraded three branch manifold and RC40 exhaust installed. It has also been converted to dry suspension with new gas front shock absorbers and Hi-Lo adjustable rear suspension. The brakes have been upgraded to 7.5” Cooper S front discs and Minifin rear hubs. 10” Cooper S style reverse rims fitted including spare and extended arches. The dynamo has been re-bushed and new brushes fitted and the car converted to negative earth. The distributor has been upgraded to electronic ignition, a Hardi fuel pump fitted, a larger fuel tank and the battery upgraded to an 075. During the restoration process the body was stripped ( with photographs on file ) the boot floor was replaced along with rear inner wings, as well as other floor replacements and sills, doors, A panels and front wings after which supplementary sound proofing was applied. Once complete the car was painted in its original factory colour scheme as supplied when new. The front seats were upgraded to recliners giving more comfort and trimmed in matching period leather. New carpets were fitted and an ammeter, clock and tachometer fitted along with sealed vents to avoid future problems. The wipers have been upgraded to two speed. A large history file is included which contains many bills and invoices for all of the work carried out as well as a British Motor Industry Heritage certificate and original owners handbook and old mot certificates. On the road the Riley drives just as you would expect and is great fun and a real head turner. Although now tax and mot exempt a fresh mot will be applied upon sale for your own peace of mind. This is a very well sorted car that is a credit to its previous keeper and is ready to enjoy in new hands. Absolutely any inspection welcome. All major debit and credit cards accepted. Part exchange considered. Finance arranged. Please contact us for any further information. Lots more pictures and a video on our website and Facebook page.
