1955 MG Magnette ZA 1622cc. Yukon Grey with Mulberry leather upholstery. This MG was built on the 29th August 1955 and despatched on 1st September to Castle Garage of Cardiff, the supplying dealer. The early history of the car is rather patchy but know it has only had three owners since 1977 some 43 years. The most recent keeper purchased the car in 2017 and set about restoring the car to what you see today. A large amount of money was spent and we have pictures and invoices of the work documented on file. A brief outline of the work completed includes the following. Fuel System: New cooper fuel lines pump to carbs, new steel braided hoses carb to carb, new heat shield, new carburettor gaskets, new vacuum pipe, remove clean and replace fuel tank and pump, new in-line filter. Brake & Clutch: New brake shoes, new wheel cylinders, new flexible hoses, new handbrake cable, new brake master cylinder, new clutch slave cylinder, new clutch flexi hose. Wheels: New rear axle bearings and seals, new front suspension tie rod, new front wheel bearings. Gearbox: New oil seal fitted. Electrical: New washer pump, new switch panel, new dip switch, new spark plugs, new distributor cap, leads, points and condenser, new coil. Interior: New door cards and door pulls, new headlining, refurbished door cappings, new vinyl coverings for boot area, parcel shelf and footwell, recovered sun visor, varnish fascia, replace speedo and gauges, feed upholstery with leather balm. Exterior: New wipers, new hockey stick trim, new rear window rubber and original chrome trim. Misc: New water pump, new rad cap and bottom hose, new oil filter and canister, new oil pressure pipe, new rocker gasket. The parts cost alone for this work is over £3800. The car has also been fitted with a 1622cc B Series engine with twin SU carburettors and K&N filters which vastly improves the performance of the car, the 1622cc being used later on in the Magnette MK IV range. There is a large history folder with the car including copies of old V5’s and a large amount of workshop manuals, owners handbook etc. Now mot and tax exempt this is a great way to enjoy the classic car movement with minimal cost although it now has an mot through to December 2021. A parts backup through the owners club also means that most parts are off the shelf so not keeping you off the road. A very solid car that with its upgrades makes it happy in modern traffic and enjoyable for shows and rallies. Absolutely any inspection is welcome. All major debit and credit cards accepted.
